The universities students are used to consuming on-demand content and increasing the availability of online lectures enables them to watch missed lectures and prepare for exams more effectively.  Interactivity and remote participation are also growing, as topic experts join lectures via video conference connections.

Therefore, the University was looking for a reliable and future proof solution that would provide pristine video quality and was able to integrate with the control systems that were already used in other campuses.  The solution needed to be versatile, produce pristine image quality, easy to control and needed to be used for lecture capture, videoconference and streaming.

They turned to Avonic partner AVmax Rendszertechnika Ltd to assess which solutions were available to equip the 7 rooms, including an E-learning Conference Room, a large Lecture Hall and the new Social Lab, with a lecture capture solution.

The Avonic CM70-IP PTZ camera proofed to be right product for this project as it provides HDMI, 3G-SDI and USB outputs and offered full IP based connectivity. It’s ability to blend into stylish design of the rooms was another big advantage.

“Avonic’s camera fullfilled all the requirements of the Corvinus University and most of all they blended in with the design of the rooms. These are all refurbished under architectual control and the design was of utmost importance. The AV department and architect are very happy about the end-results.”

Robert Hodován, CEO AVmax Rendszertechnika Ltd.

Within the lecture rooms, individual CM series PTZ cameras were integrated along with Epson projectors, Audio Technica microphones, Kramer Matrix switchers, Blackmagic Atem video mixers and Crestron control systems, all of which being controlled using a simple to use touch panel interface and a dedicated Avonic CON300-IP PTZ Controller.

This installation confirms Avonic’s commitment to the educational market – a market with specific demands for IP security and installation flexibility.  The nature of Avonic’s products means that the company is often involved in education projects: these kinds of institutions are constantly producing important content that needs to be shared with a much wider, remote audience.

“We are excited of being part of this project that proofs that our focus on specific educational features is being noticed by Universities.”
“Adaptation of lecture capture in all forms – from recording a PowerPoint with audio, to pre-recording content for getting to those non-traditional students – is growing at a rapid pace. Another trend is bringing topic experts in to lectures through a video conference connection. Therefore, the cameras used need to be flexible and offer various connections, making designing and maintaining a system easier than ever”
